Carla Bruni sees L'Aquila face-lift

Jul 10 - France's First Lady Carla Bruni tours restoration work underway in the quake-devastated Italian city of L'Aquila during the G8 summit of world leaders.

Wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Bruni was late in arriving in Italy and missed previous tours for G8 dignitaries of the medieval city of L'Aquila which was struck by a deadly earthquake in April, 2009.

L'Aquila is the main historical and artistic centre of Abruzzo, seat of an archibishop and a university.
