Passport bungle
Mar 20 - British government admits that thousands of passports are in the wrong hands.
As many as 10,000 British passports have been issued to fraudulent applicants, the Home Office said. Applicants for new British passports will now have to undergo face to face interviews in an attempt to combat fraud. From 2009, the plan is to interview everyone, even if they only need a re-issued passport.
