Cricket row umpire dropped

(01:36) Report

Jan. 8 - The umpire at the centre of a cricketing row between India and Australia has been dropped.

Cricket's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) denied caving into Indian pressure to replace Jamaican umpire Steve Bucknor, who was criticised for a poor performance in the second Test, which India claims cost the team the match.

The umpiring in Sydney and the suspension of Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh - banned for allegedly making a racist remark to Australia's only non-white player, Andrew Symonds during the ill-tempered match, has plunged the tour into disarray.

Helen Long reports.
