Death and queues in snowbound China

(01:15) Report

Jan. 29 - At least 49 people have died as snow and ice sweep across much of China, affecting the annual New Year holiday.

Sub-zero temperatures, snow and sleet blanketing much of central, eastern and southern China have crippled transportation systems, caused shortages of power and food, and stranded hundreds of thousands of people.

Sonia Legg reports.
