Powerful storm batters Britain

(00:44) Rough Cut

Mar. 10 - Winds of more than 80mph and torrential rain have caused widespread disruption to southern England and Wales.

Buildings were damaged, trees uprooted and thousands of homes were left without power.

Travel by land, air and sea was disrupted: in London flights were cancelled at Heathrow Airport while the struggles of pilots landing small passenger jets at the capital's City Airport were caught on video.

Around forty flood warnings were in place in England and Wales during Monday (10th March) with the UK's Environment Agency using bulldozers to build up coastal defences.
