May. 11 - Residents of Sudan's capital Khartoum are venturing outside - despite an indefinite curfew - after a sustained attack by Darfur rebels.
The government has cut ties with neighbouring Chad and threatened retaliation.
It accuses Chad of helping train the rebels - a charge Chad denies. The government says it has chased away most of the rebels.
