Quake parents mourn their only child

May 20 - In China many parents are mourning the loss of their only child, killed in the Sichuan earthquake.

The country's one-child birth control policy is having a devastating unintended consequence for many. As elsewhere in Sichuan, parents in the small town of Wufu have gathered to mourn the more than 100 children killed when their local school building collapsed in the quake of 12 May 2008.
