Myanmar grants foreign aid access

(01:35) Report

May 23 - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says Myanmar's leaders have agreed that foreign aid workers of any nationality will be allowed to enter Myanmar to help.

The breakthrough came after Ban Ki Moon met the head of Myamnar's military junta Than Shwe who agreed to allow assistance to cyclone victims from aid workers entering the country "regardless of nationality".

The move comes after intense international frustration as aid agencies could not get permission to help those suffering following the devastating cyclone which hit Myanmar leaving 2.4 million people destitute three weeks ago.
