Ireland says 'No' to EU treaty

(02:15) Report

Jun. 13 - Irish voters reject the EU's Lisbon treaty in a referendum.

The defeat could scupper EU reform plans and means a country with fewer than 1 percent of the EU's 490 million population could doom a treaty painstakingly negotiated by all 27 member states.

Soundbites:

  • Dermot Ahern, Irish Justice Minister.
  • Nigel Farge, British MEP and Chairman for the UK Independence Party.
  • President Jose Manuel Barroso Commission.

    Michelle Carlile-Alkhouri reports.
