Jun. 17 - Afghan forces prepare to spearhead a major military operation aimed at driving out the Taliban from the southern district of Arghandab.
The action will be directed against Taliban insurgents who have overrun several villages in the area.
Officials and witnesses there say hundreds of families have fled their homes ahead of the operation.
The country's defence ministry says Afghan forces will take the lead in the operation which will be backed by ground and air support from NATO-led troops.
