Israeli-Hamas truce begins

(01:53) Report

Jun. 19 - Israel and Hamas halted fighting in the Gaza Strip on Thursday but, with wider peace prospects hazy, both sides voiced doubt over how long the Egyptian- brokered ceasefire might hold.

The Egyptian-brokered truce is aimed at halting Palestinian rocket attacks and Israeli incursions into Gaza and is supposed to last for six months.

Both sides pledged to honour the ceasefire, which came into force at dawn, but warned that fighting would resume if the terms of the agreement were breached.
