Cosmonauts work on explosive bolt

(01:03) Report

Jul. 10 - Two cosmonauts begin a risky spacewalk to remove a so-called explosive bolt from the Soyuz capsule in an attempt to fix a problem that led to rough landings for two previous crews.

he spacewalk was a first for both cosmonauts, who arrived at the orbital outpost in April for a six-month mission.

Their crewmate, NASA astronaut Greg Chamitoff, was inside the Soyuz while his crewmates worked to avoid being cut off from an escape route to the ship during the spacewalk.

Pavithra George reports.
