War victims hail Karadzic arrest

(01:55) Report

Jul 22 - The families of victims of the Srebrenica massacre hail the arrest of the former Bosnia Serb leader Radovan Karadzic.

Karadzic is being held by the Serbian authorities following his arrest near Belgrade after 11 years on the run.

The Bosnian Serb wartime president has been indicted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal for genocide during the 1992-1995 Bosnia war and is held responsible for the massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica in 1995 as well deaths of some 11,000 people during the seige of Sarajevo.

Karadzic, along with his army commander General Ratko Mladic, had wanted Serb areas of Bosnia to be linked to Serbia and other areas dominated by Serbs.
