Aug 19 - American hurdler Angelo Taylor hopes the U.S. medal sweep will boost the track-and-field team's spirit in Beijing.

American hurdler, Angelo Taylor, said in Beijing on Tuesday (August 19) that he hopes the U.S. medal sweep in the men's 400 metres hurdles final on Monday (August 18) will boost the track-and-field team's morale.

Taylor, who won the 400 hurdles title in Sydney eight years ago but failed to make it past the semi-finals in Athens in 2004, took victory in a time of 47.25 seconds.

Kerron Clement took silver with 47.98 and Bershawn Jackson completed the American one-two-three in 48.06.

It was the first American sweep of the event since the 1960 Rome Olympics.

Taylor's time was a personal best after he chasing down Jackson who had been fastest out of the blocks.

The last man to win the men's Olympic 400 hurdles title twice was the great Edwin Moses in 1976 and 1984.
