McCain picks Palin

Aug. 29 - Republican presidential candidate John McCain chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate.

The 44-year-old Palin has strong conservative credentials and is the first female governor of Alaska. She first took office in 2006.
