Sep. 10 - The world's biggest physics experiment taking place at CERN in Switzerland has stirred new interest in participle physics, along with fresh anxieties.

Through viral video, sometimes wild speculation about black holes and the demise of our planet, and sundry experts trying to define the event in layman's terms, the start of the particle-smashing experiment has been a media talking point. But how well do the media 'do' science? Matt Cowan investigates.
