AIG scrambles for rescue

Sep 16 - American International Group is the focus of fears that it could be the next to fall after Lehman Brothers sought bankruptcy protection.

Once one of the world's biggest insurers, AIG holds the debt insurance of asset managers and hedge funds and its collapse would be felt in companies around the world.

Meanwhile, UK bank Barclays looks to buy some of Lehman's assets.
