Stocks plunge as rescue vote fails

Sep. 29 - U.S. stocks plummeted late-Monday after the $700 billion rescue plan failed in its first congressional vote, sending the Dow to its biggest intra-day point loss in history.

The Dow fell as much as 705 points in the immediate aftermath of the failed vote.
