Sentiment up on U.S. rescue hopes

Oct 1 - European markets rose on hopes that a revamped U.S. bailout package would be passed.

But money markets remain paralysed, and investor jitters are leaving banks vulnerable.

City Index Ltd analyst Tom Hougaard says that, altough he expects a bounce in European markets soon, there are tough times ahead for the banking industry.
