Oct 6 - Asian stocks dropped by around 5 percent on Monday.
And the yen surged to a 2-year high against the euro as investors doubted a scattered European response to the financial crisis and a 700 billion dollars U.S. bank bailout could prevent a deeper global economic slump.
Japan's Nikkei fell to a 4 and a half year closing low as investors, spooked by signs of growing global economic gloom, dumped shares across the board.
