Oct 10 - Finland's former president Martti Ahtisaari has been chosen the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his long career in mediation work.
At the announcement in Oslo, the Norwegian Nobel Committee said they selected Ahtisaari for the $1.4 million prize from a field of 197 candidates "for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts."
