Oct 13 - Prime Minister Gordon Brown called on world leaders to create a new "financial architecture", in much the same way that the current international economic system was set up at a conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, in 1944.
His call comes as world governments pledge hundreds of billions of dollars to shore up banks in the face of the worst economic crisis in 80 years.
