Wall St. extends global rout

Oct. 24 - U.S. stocks ended the week with more than 3 percent declines as mounting recession fears sent global investors running to the exits.

The Dow saw a 312 point decline, a loss of 3.6 percent, to 8,378. The S&P 500 lost 31 points, or 3.4 percent, to 876. The Nasdaq fell 51 points, or 3.2 percent, to 1,552.Crude oil prices dropped to $64.15 a barrel. Conway Gittens reports from New York.
