Nov 18 - International aid groups are warning of looming shortages of food and fuel in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip as Israel shuts border crossings in response to continued rocket fire by Palestinian militants.
Israel had lifted a two-week blockade on Gaza, allowing in 33 truckloads of humanitarian supplies.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert also assured Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that he would not permit a humanitarian crisis to develop in Gaza.
But international aid groups said the trucks sent in on Monday were not enough to alleviate shortages of items such as fuel that have led to daily periodic electricity blackouts for the 1.5 million Palestinians living in the territory.
