Violent clashes in Athens

(01:06) Report

Dec 21 - Riot police force protesters back into the Athens Polytechnic University after a night of violent street clashes.

Protesters hurled rocks and petrol bombs at police, who fired teargas at the crowds.

The recent violence is Greece's worst unrest in decades.

The violence was triggered by the police killing of a teenager in Athens.

His death came amid a wave of public unease over the state of the country's economy and education system.

Analysts say the protests may force early elections.

Basmah Fahim reports.
