Israel defends Gaza offensive
Jan 05 - Defence Minister Ehud Barak says the assault will go on until neighbouring Israeli communities are safe from attack.
There have been protests within Israel over the military operation in Gaza, now into its second week, but there is also considerable support among Israelis, not least from those who live in towns and villages targeted by militant rockets.
