Gas row begins to bite in Europe

Jan 6 - The Russia-Ukraine gas dispute has cut supplies of Russian gas to a swathe of European countries, many experiencing an unusually cold winter.

The conflict, now in its sixth day, escalated dramatically on Monday when Russia ordered gazprom to cut deliveries of gas to Europe via Ukraine by a sixth, the same amount Moscow accuses Kiev of siphoning off.
