Europe getting no gas via Ukraine

(01:16) Report

Jan 7 - Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine shut down completely, leaving many EU countries without Russian fuel in freezing winter conditions.

Supplies to Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Romania were halted by the escalating price dispute between Moscow and Kiev, which also threatens to disrupt flows to European countries as far west as Italy and Germany.

But the deputy chief executive of Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom said he is ready to restart talks with Ukraine.
