News of Osama Bin Laden's death is cause for celebration in the U.S... Especially in New York, where 10 years ago this September, Bin Laden's al Qaeda network brought down the World Trade Center, killing nearly 3-thousand people. Overnight, patriotic Americans reclaimed that fateful plot of land. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LAMONT SMITH, SAYING: "Victory. I'm born and raised in New York. This is my first time back in this spot in ten years. It's amazing. It's like tonight there is no more Ground Zero. This is the World Trade Center. It's a victory tonight for all Americans, for all the people around the world." In Washington, the street in front of the White House filled up quickly with citizens supporting the president, and each other. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY STUDENT JILLIAN PASSIONE SAYING: "As an American, this is definitely reason for us to come together. This is something we have all been concerned about for the past couple of years and now that the day has finally come, in such dire times with the economy and people not in such a good place with America, this is a great opportunity for people to come together and be happy for something collectively." As the world rejoices over the news, a bit of closure to a wound still healing 10 years on. Julie Noce, Reuters
