June 5 - Thousands take to the streets of Sanaa to celebrate the departure of president Ali Abdullah Saleh to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment. Sunita Rappai reports

Thousands flock to the streets of Sanaa to cheer the news that president Ali Abdullah Saleh has left the country. Waving flags and banners, they chant 'Ali Saleh has escaped" Saudi officials confirmed that Saleh arrived in the country to be treated for wounds sustained during Friday's rocket attack on the presidential palace. In the streets of Sanaa, which had echoed with the sound of gunfire recently, people rejoice and compare his departure to the festive holiday of Eid. SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SANAA RESIDENT, AMAL SALAH, SAYING: "How can I describe this? We are happy, happy. That's it. We have pulled down the regime by our peaceful revolution. Thank God, we are happy today. And today for us it is like Eid. This is the first time in my opinion, this is Eid for us." This boy holds a banner that says "Today is Eid for him leaving - my brother was murdered." Other protesters sacrifice a goat in the main square and distribute the meat to celebrate Saleh's departure. Saudi sources say Riyadh has brokered a ceasefire between Yemen's rival clans and political elites. Sunita Rappai, Reuters
