The latest out of Syria --- amateur video showing what appear to be police officers beating two men with batons. Things go from bad to worse for the two men as others join in on the attack, eventually forcing one of the men into trunk of this vehicle. Reuters is unable to verify the content of this video which was obtained from a social media site. Elsewhere in Damascus, the dialog between those seeking reform and supporters of President Bashar al-Assad, was notably more civilized. The president reportedly approved this gathering even as he dispatched forces to squash protests. Human rights group say as many as 1,300 civilians have been killed and at least 12,000 have been arrested since the uprisings began three months ago. Deborah Gembara, Reuters.
