Republican candidates for the 2012 presidential nomination are well into the campaign season... and as usual, the Iowa State Fair tops the of list candidate appearances. As the first American state to hold primary elections, Iowans are courted early and often by candidates hoping to win big in the coveted caucus. Hopefuls each get a chance to man the bbq... And some spend time with livestock... Sarah Palin hasn't even announced her candidacy yet... but showed up in Iowa just in case. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER ALASKA GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN SAYING: "I'm in the heartland, talking to the good folks of Iowa. These folks who are feeding the rest of the country and working so hard and instilling work ethic in our kids and Governor Perry and all the rest, they need to be here. It's good. (REPORTER ASKS IF SHE WILL RUN IN THE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN) Still a potential, still thinking about it." The timing of Palin's visit, one day before a popularity poll that's a big early test of campaign strength for the 2012 Republican presidential contenders, has fueled renewed questions about whether she plans to run.
