Rough cut (No reporter narration). Thousands of Russians lined up outside Moscow's central cathedral on Saturday (November 19) for a chance to kiss a relic of the Virgin Mary brought to Russia from a Greek monastery, as the Orthodox revival took a political turn with the election cycle underway. The Cincture of the Virgin Mary, believed to be a belt worn by the Madonna, is said to promote fertility and good health. The belt - also known as the Precious Sash of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos - on its first trip out of Greece. Moscow police authorities closed roads near the Christ the Savior Cathedral in central Moscow as thousands of pilgrims from across Russia braved cold and snowy weather for their turn to view the relic.
