Amateur video out of Syria appears to show Syrian security forces on the streets of Daraa. The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, shows clashes erupting amid the sound of gunfire. The video comes amid reports that hundreds of army defectors are battling with regime loyalists. Footage from Busr al-Harir shows a home standing in ruins. Activists say Syrian troops stormed the town. More footage, purportedly from a Damascus neighborhood shows closed shops in the first day of a mass strike called by the opposition to support a nine-month revolt against President Bashar al-Assad. Security forces across the country told striking shopkeepers on Sunday to open up their stores or they would be smashed. Despite a crackdown which the UN Syria has killed more than 4,000 people, demonstrators were back on the streets of Homs. Assad says casualties have been overwhelmingly from the security forces, targeted by "armed terrorist gangs". Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters
