Champion boxer Pacquiao helps Philippines typhoon relief

Dec. 23 - Filipino boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao delivers relief goods inside an evacuation centre for typhoon Washi refugees. Lily Grimes reports.

Hundreds pack a gymnasium being used as a makeshift shelter after landslides triggered by typhoon Washi killed more than 1000 people and left tens of thousands homeless in the southern Philippines. Filipino boxing champ and congressman Manny Pacquiao visited the city of Cagayan De Oro which was particularly hard hit. Pacquiao said he wanted to personally help the relief efforts after seeing the devastation caused by Saturday's floods. (SOUNDBITE) (Filipino) BOXING CHAMP AND CONGRESSMAN MANNY PACQUIAO SAYING: "Let's not lose hope. It's not God's will to cause this calamity without reason. We have to pray and have faith in Him."
