Japan's Sumilox reopened its Thai factory Monday, the first to resume operations at the Rojana Industrial Park in Ayutthaya. The air conditioning parts makers and distributor was forced to shut its operations in early October after flood water levels reached a height of about three to four metres (10 to 13 feet) inside the Sumilox factory. The firm says losses came to nearly $17 million dollars (500 million baht). Sumilox adds it has not resumed full operations as many of its large machines have not been repaired yet. Tokyo has promised to help Japanese companies affected by the Thai floods, but Sumilox President Shinichi Takaya says nothing has been put forward yet.
