Demonstrators clash with police in London as the occupy movement launches a global day of action. At St. Paul's Cathedral they are out in force calling for income equality. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NAME GIVEN AS 'PETE THE TENT', ACTIVIST, SAYING: "The rich are getting incredibly rich at the expense of our public services. So we're going to come here today and we're going to go to their front door and we're going to make our voice known on behalf of everybody in this country because we know that we represent the vast majority of people." In Spain demonstrators march through the streets of Madrid. They are marking the anniversary of a campaign to push the government to do something about the economy. Similar scenes in Italy. Demonstrators Italians gather to protest against Prime Minister Mario Monti's government and its unpopular reforms. Monti heads an unelected government of technocrats that took over in November after a discredited Silvio Berlusconi stepped down amid a looming debt crisis. (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) MARCIA LANDI SAYING: "We are discontented because they continue to implement reforms that are not equal and look after the interests of the same usual elite and they always put their hands in the workers' and citizens' pockets In Germany Occupy supporters staged a protest outside the stock exchange in Frankfurt. Some staged the mock-slashing of an iron cast statue of a bull to simulate the demise of the power of money. Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters
