Among many disappointed Cambodian disabled atheletes is Van Vun. He did not qualify to compete in London's Paralympic games. Only one athlete is representing the impoverished country. Van Vun said he was initially told he was going to compete, but it was later decided that he would be left on the sidelines. "I don't know what happened to that decision. They said in the beginning that I would be able to go with the runner Thim Senghon, who won one gold medal and two silver medals, and I only won two silver medals from the last competition in Indonesia last year. But later they told me that I couldn't go because they gave the place only to one person, who is Thim Senghon." Christopher Miko, the secretary-general of Cambodia National Volleyball League said Cambodia had not chosen the right athlete in the "wild card" qualifier round. "So Cambodia can only participate in Paralympic games through the Wild Card. Very sad to say that the National Paralympic Committee has selected not the best athlete which is currently Van Vun, a wheelchair racer and has opted to go with a female amputee runner. There is only one Wild Card that has been made available." The 26-year-old wheelchair racer was disabled by polio at the age of three.
