Other video shows a frantic rush to collect bodies and the injured Sixteen people --- were killed in fighting throughout Syria according to the Observatory for Human Rights. The group says many of the dead are soldiers killed by rebel forces. Shelling in Homs came as thousands gathered for a rally against President Bashar al-Assad in the southern province of Deraa In Doha, at an Arab League meeting to discuss Syria, peace envoy Kofi Annan. SOUNDBITE: U.N. Arab League envoy Kofi Annan saying: "Today, we have 291 U.N. military observers and over 90 U.N. civilians in the mission in Syria, able to move freely throughout the country and provide objective reports. But we do not have what this was set up to achieve, an end to the appalling violence and abuses and the launch of the political process for a transition that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people." Annan met with President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus earlier in the week following the killing of over 100 civilians, including dozens of children --- the latest and mostly gruesome violation of a several week old ceasefire.
