New fault-lines of power in Egyptian politics. On Sunday, Egypt's new president decided to reconvene the country's Islamist-dominated parliament, challenging the authority of Egypt's army generals who dissolved the assembly in line with a court order about a month ago. The move highlights the power struggle likely to define President Mohamed Mursi's term, pitting Islamists against generals used to calling the shots. Speaking on state TV, an aide to Mursi said parliament would reconvene with full powers until an early new election is held. State media said the army's supreme council held an emergency meeting, signalling there could be a prolonged legal wrangle. Sarah Sheffer, Reuters
