A Syrian tank at the scene of an alleged massacre on Thursday in the village of Tremseh, where more than 200 Syrians, mostly civilians, are feared to have been killed. According to the Revolution Leadership Council of Hama, the Sunni Muslim village was subjected to a barrage of heavy fire. Pro-government Alawite militiamen then swept in and killed victims one-by-one. The killings have not yet been confirmed but other video clips posted on the internet appear to show demonstrations in support of Tremseh in Aleppo and Damascus. Activists say rebels from the Free Syrian Army, fighting to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad were stationed in Tremseh. Reuters is unable to independently verify the content of these videos because of Syrian government restrictions. If confirmed, the killings would be the worst single incident of violence in the 16-month uprising. Syrian state television meanwhile said three security personel had been killed in the Tremseh fighting and accused 'armed terrorist groups' of committing a massacre there. Sunita Rappai Reuters
