Rebels fan out through the rubble-strewn streets of Aleppo, Syria's largest city. This neighbourhood - Kaber Jabal - has become a prime battleground in the country's 19-month-old civil conflict. Buildings here have been reduced to ruins after intense fighting between insurgents and government forces. Countless civilians have been caught in the violence. This amateur video is said to show families fleeing another Aleppo district, though Reuters could not independently verify its content. Meanwhile, on Sunday a bomb tore through this government building in Damascus, wounding 11. The government blamed rebels for the attack, referring to them as terrorists. In an attempt to end the bloodshed, peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi met with the head of the Arab League in Egypt on Sunday. Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to join them in talks seen as key. Moscow has shot down several international attempts to intervene Syria's conflict, which has left an estimated 32,000 people dead.
