Reform or leave - the chant from thousands gathered in Jordan's capital, Amman on Friday directed at ruling monarch King Abdullah. Around 2000 people called for the king's removal on the third day of demonstrations following a hike in fuel prices which has heightened tensions in the country. They also chanted for the downfall of the regime, echoing the rallying cry of the many Arab Spring uprisings that have shaken the region.. Women were also vocal participants with one accusing the regime of unethical conduct. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) PROTESTER, ABEER, SAYING: "The protests came after the rise in prices, which was preceded by rampant corruption of the regime against the people. The people cannot take this corruption and can't stand these prices anymore." The Muslim Brotherhood, the country's largest opposition group, had called on people to take to the streets but top officials from the group choose not to participate in the rally. The 50-year-old king has ruled since 1999.
