A barrage of missiles in Syria. Amateur video out of Syria which could not be independently verified by Reuters shows an aggressive air campaign by the Syrian government. In Deir el Zour a city is turned into a ghost town. Activists say the conflict has already cost the lives of at least 38,000 people. Damage is widespread. There are reports of heavy fighting in the outskirts of Damascus. This comes as rebels have captured several army positions in recent weeks. In Dubai, members of Syria's new opposition are appealing for help. They are seeking to raise sixty billion dollars to rebuild Syria from the ruins of the war.
