ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Hundreds of people gathered under Giglio island's lighthouse on Sunday to watch the unveiling of two plaques to commemorate the 32 people who were killed in the Costa Concordia shipwreck and those who survived, one year ago. In what has been a grueling and emotional day, survivors of the wreck, along with relatives of the victims and the islanders crowded onto the port to watch the unveiling in one of the many memorial events to have been organized. One of the plaques listed the thirty two people who were killed the night the 114,500 tonne cruise ship hit the rocks off the island. The other plaque, issued by the Italian port authorities, commended the rescue of over 4,000 people and the exemplary efforts of the Giglio residents. Later in the evening at the time that the accident took place one year ago, a minute of silence will be held before sirens sound to mark the moment the Costa Concordia slammed into the rocks.
