Two people were killed and a third wounded when gunfire broke out in the parking lot of a community college in eastern Kentucky.
Police said they suspected the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, and there was no indication anyone involved had any connections with the Hazard Community and Technical College, some 90 miles southeast of Lexington.
Authorities described the dead as a man in his fifties and a woman in her twenties to early thirties.
A female in her teens was wounded and taken to the University of Kentucky hospital in Lexington.
Two people were being held in connection with the crime, including the alleged shooter, who was said to have opened fire with a semiautomatic pistol.
The college president told reporters that classes for the school's 4,700 students had been cancelled Wednesday because of the investigation.
