Parisians woke to find the streets of the French capital carpeted in snow on Saturday (January 19) as wintry conditions swept the country prompting weather authority Meteo France to issue severe weather warnings.
The snow and ice meant over half the country was put on orange alert -- the second highest level -- with Meteo France calling for vigilance as multiple road accidents were reported by French media.
In Paris there were delays and cancellations on the transport network but the disruption did not stop children taking to the streets for snowball fights in the city's boulevards.
