(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION) British Prime Minister David Cameron met with the presidents of Afghanistan and Pakistan at his country residence, Chequers, on Monday (February 4). Cameron's meeting with the two leaders Hamid Karzai and Asif Ali Zardari is aimed at discussing peace talks and ways to secure closer ties with Afghanistan and Pakistan. The meeting is also intended to focus on how to tackle security threats after international troops leave Afghanistan in 2014. Britain will withdraw nearly half its troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2013, as part of a security handover to Afghan forces more than a decade after the U.S.-led invasion. Nearly all of Britain's 9,000 soldiers are due to pull out when the NATO mission finishes in late 2014, ending a long, costly and unpopular war that has cost the lives of 438 UK troops.
