New Yorkers prepare for the Tribeca Film Festival

89 new and established directors are ready to make their mark at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. Films ranging from hard-hitting documentaries to gripping features make up the field of movies from around the world. The festival kicks off with the world premiere of "Mistaken for Strangers," a documentary about the rock band The National. Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal. SOUNDBITE: Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Film Festival co-founder, saying: "It's actually a very touching story about two brothers. So that will be a very fun and different opening for us." Starting on April 19th, the festival will honor Nelson Mandela's life and quotes by taking over video screens in the center of Manhattan. The former South African President attended the very first film festival and veteran actor Robert De Niro says paying tribute to him is necessary. SOUNDBITE: Robert De Niro, Tribeca Film Festival co-founder, saying: "It's appropriate to do this now when he's getting on. He'll be 95 soon." To help get New Yorkers in movie mood, the festival is sending a popcorn truck around town. Vice President of entertainment marketing and sponsorships at American Express, Deborah Curtis is helping get the word out. SOUNDBITE: Deborah Curtis, Vice President of entertainment marketing and sponsorships at American Express, saying (English): "The popcorn truck is open to the masses. Popcorn is given out for free and then we are also able to sale tickets through the Tribeca box office actually from the truck." The 12-day festival will begin on April 17th.
