June 10 - Former-South African President Nelsen Mandela remains in hospital with a lung infection as well-wishers hope for his quick recovery. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

Former president Nelson Mandela remained in a Pretoria hospital for a third day on Monday (June 10) as South Africans wished the 94-year-old well. Mandela was admitted to hospital on Saturday (June 8) with a recurring lung infection. It is his fourth hospital stay since December and the government says his condition is "serious but stable". During previous hospital visits it had highlighted his "good spirits". A growing phalanx of international and local media assembled in front of the Mediclinic Heart Hospital where Mandela is believed to be staying. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHANNESBURG RESIDENT, JONATHAN MSONGO, SAYING: "I can wish him the best, just to recover, because he was our hero before when he was in the prison." (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHANNESBURG RESIDENT JOUBERT VAN WYK, SAYING: "Nelson, you've done a lot for our nation, our thoughts and wishes are with you and get better soon. It's your birthday soon and we hope to see that day." In a statement, President Jacob Zuma repeated his call for the country to pray for the ailing former president.
